638 In the Garden

This is part of Edgewood Orchard Galleries' Sculpture Garden path and one of the sculptures.  I photographed this scene last Fall, but didn't make note of the artist and sculpture name.  I tried to find out, but couldn't in time for this post.  I will identify if and when I learn the information.

* This sculpture is called "Evening Out," and the artist is Cathy Broski.

"638 In the Garden"

633 A Painting of Eve, The Mother of All Living, a Sculpture

      The sculpture.  Isn't it beautiful?

If you've visited the Edgewood Orchard Galleries in Fish Creek, Door County, Wisconsin, you would know of their beautiful sculpture gardens, paths speckled with impressive sculptures.  This sculpture is one of my favorites, called "Eve, The Mother of All Living" by Carl Vanderheyden.  It is beautifully patinaed and captivating.  I never thought I could/would paint it, but I'm glad I gave it a try today.  I needed a success (in my own eyes) after failing miserably with the sailboat paintings.

On that note, I spent some time at the lakefront today, a beautiful warm day with a cool breeze, perfect for sailing, I imagine.  As expected, there were many sailboats on the Lake and I snapped quite a few pictures.  Who knows if that will have made any difference in my next attempt.  I don't easily give up.

If I Only Had a Heart

I couldn't resist--- I just couldn't paint hearts and flowers and all that sappy stuff.  This is a quick little painting of a sculpture in Oz Park in Chicago, home of Lyman Frank Baum who wrote several Oz books.   The sculpture was created by artist John Kearney in 1995, and the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow and Dorothy and Toto statues followed.  It is a beautiful park in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, and I discovered it quite by accident.

For your enjoyment, I am including the words the Tin Man sang in the movie, The Wizard of Oz.
Happy Valentine's Day to all of you.

correction:  the painting is 5 x 7" not 6 x 8".

If I Only Had a Heart

When a man's an empty kettle
He should be on his mettle
And yet I'm torn apart
Just because I'm presumin'
That I could be kind of human
If I only had a heart

I'd be tender, I'd be gentle
And awful sentimental
Regarding love and art
I'd be friends with the sparrows
And the boy that shoots the arrows
If I only had a heart

Picture me a balcony
Above a voice sings low

(Snow White)
Wherefore art thou, Romeo?

(Tin Man)
I hear a beat, how sweet!

Just to register emotion, jealousy, devotion
And really feel the part
I could stay young and chipper
And I'd lock it with a zipper
If I only had a heart
