553 Citrus in the Limelight
I will be curious to see if I like this still life better with my usual dramatic lighting. I do like the way the bowl is the star in this painting.

541 Underestimated
I am delighted to report that with this painting, I have officially relocated my studio from the basement ("The Dungeon") where I painted without a window, to the attic " Penthouse." Today is the first day I painted there. A dear friend helped me haul and reorganize and it is a dream space, freshly painted, heated, carpets cleaned, and with a real window and a bathroom. What more could I ask for?

521 Freshly Fallen
I took the photo reference for this painting last year in my next door neighbor's yard. Her young dogwood tree was decorated with red holiday balls and the freshly fallen snow had piled up on them. For someone who hates cold and winter, I admit I love the brightness, the shadows, and the colors of the snow. FYI, my husband, my best critic, has absolutely no idea what this painting is all about. That's a bad sign, because, despite his color blindness, he is usually correct.
Happy Holidays to all!!

440 Bela
Bela and Gracie (yesterday's subject) both left for the giant dog park in heaven within days of each other. Bela was a loyal companion to my friend and her family for many years. Her presence is missed greatly.
Tomorrow (Wednesday) I am painting in my first plein air competition. I would rather not think of it as a competition because it is too stressful. I just want to enjoy the day in a lovely setting and paint the best painting I can.
