Life is a Bowl of .... Strawberries

A wonderful friend/mentor/teacher advises "Never fall in love with your painting....it is the kiss of death."  I have kept that advice in mind with each and every new painting, hearing her voice speaking the works.  I "really like" this painting, although I am so frustrated with the photographing/scanning process.  The image I see just doesn't do it justice.  The strawberries have so many beautiful reds/oranges and the background is my nemesis color, in the YELLOW family.

These are the strawberries my neighbor picked for us.  They are long gone and I didn't share them with my husband.  HUH!

334 Rescued By a Little Blue Vase

There is more orange in the painted tulips than what I see on my monitor.  I could not make the proper adjustments despite six tries.  It's a gloomy day and SNOWING, so the light is bad.

170 Aspen Study

At the Hacienda del Sol in Taos, New Mexico, I was taken aback by the simple beauty of a cluster of cut Aspens leaning against a shed.  I had fun painting this but it was tricky getting the palette knife in the small sections.  It will be easier and even more fun on a larger format.

162 Moonshine

This set up was at an antique shop in West Virginia.  I remember my father had moonshine jugs many years ago, so I thought of him when I saw these.

Extreme Kitty

This is Bunny.  She was abandoned at the curb and the unsuspecting young girl couldn't let that happen.  She brought her home, only to discover later that Bunny is deaf, which presents unique problems.  I'm told Bunny looks frozen in this painting.  Bunny doesn't care---she has an extreme attitude.

Pansy O'Hara?

Margaret Mitchell's original choice of names for her heroine in Gone With the Wind was Pansy.  She settled on the name Scarlet just before the book was published.  So here's a Scarlet Pansy for you.
