I am working on painting glass from a still life (as opposed to from a photograph, which is much easier) with looser strokes. It is more difficult than it looks as there are many things to consider--the light, the distortion caused by the glass and/or water, the reflections, etc. Practice, practice, practice.

329 Costars
Today is my one year anniversary as a Daily Paintworks artist. I have painted and posted 329 daily paintings, missed 36 days. It has been a very rewarding experience for me and I feel I have learned a great deal. Several people have asked me if I plan to quit after a year, but....heck, no! I hope you have enjoyed following my progress. My 365th painting will be something to celebrate!

My daughter made this vessel in a high school ceramics class. It is one of my favorite pieces because of its color and unusual shape. It was difficult for me to paint. I love it with these orange tulips, which have many more petals than your run-of-the-mill tulips. This bunch, from Trader Joe's, had what I call 2 "double Dutch" and one "triple Dutch"---two or three tulips on ONE stem! How exciting! (Can you tell I'm a gardener?)

324 Empower
Tonight I participated in the Komen Survivor Dinner Boutique with a display of my daily paintings. It was a very enjoyable evening and I was proud to be asked to be a part of an event where women who have gone through so much felt empowered by being together as a group and their will to survive. The woman who ran the boutique is a fellow gardener and quilter, and has experienced breast cancer twice. She is truly an inspiration! Her daughter is also a survivor and is very involved with the Susan B. Komen Foundation. I feel humbled and very blessed to have good health.

321 C and B Revisited
I have missed painting these last several days. It has become such a habit for me that when I don't paint, I get a little edgy. It really felt good today, though I feel a little rusty. Need to regroup and refocus after the completion of Art in Bloom Marketplace and sadly saying goodbye to guests. The Garden Club banner was a big hit and we sold a fair amount of leaf vessels. I'm tired!
