336 Aerial View Revised

I didn't care for the yellow background, so I changed it.  I think this is better

335 Make It a Double

...studying glass and the strange things that happen when you paint it.  I am very happy with this little painting, but unfortunately I cannot get the colors right in the photograph/monitor.  I've read it takes 10,000 hours to master a subject.  sigh.  I have a long way to go.

334 Rescued By a Little Blue Vase

There is more orange in the painted tulips than what I see on my monitor.  I could not make the proper adjustments despite six tries.  It's a gloomy day and SNOWING, so the light is bad.

332 Another Try

I liked this subject enough to paint it twice.

331 Crisscross

I am working on painting glass from a still life (as opposed to from a photograph, which is much easier) with looser strokes.   It is more difficult than it looks as there are many things to consider--the light, the distortion caused by the glass and/or water, the reflections, etc.   Practice, practice, practice.

329 Costars

Today is my one year anniversary as a Daily Paintworks artist.  I have painted and posted 329 daily paintings,  missed 36 days.  It has been a very rewarding experience for me and I feel I have learned a great deal.  Several people have asked me if I plan to quit after a year, but....heck, no!  I hope you have enjoyed following my progress.  My 365th painting will be something to celebrate!

328. Double Dutch in an Olive Oil Jar

I may have mentioned that this bunch of Trader Joe's tulips had several "doubles" and a "triple" flowers on just one stem.  I always get a kick out of that.  Simple pleasures!

325 Duel

My daughter made this vessel in a high school ceramics class.  It is one of my favorite pieces because of its color and unusual shape.   It was difficult for me to paint.  I love it with these orange tulips, which have many more petals than your run-of-the-mill tulips.  This bunch, from Trader Joe's, had what I call 2 "double Dutch" and one "triple Dutch"---two or three tulips on ONE stem!  How exciting!  (Can you tell I'm a gardener?)

325 Support

At last night's Komen Survivor Dinner, the room was filled with a sea of PINK.  I debated whether I should buy pink flowers for my display, but chose beautiful orange tulips instead.

324 Empower

Tonight I participated in the Komen Survivor Dinner Boutique with a display of my daily paintings.  It was a very enjoyable evening and I was proud to be asked to be a part of an event where women who have gone through so much felt empowered by being together as a group and their will to survive.  The woman who ran the boutique is a fellow gardener and quilter, and has experienced breast cancer twice.  She is truly an inspiration!  Her daughter is also a survivor and is very involved with the Susan B. Komen Foundation.  I feel humbled and very blessed to have good health.

323 Ranunculus

I'm a sucker for ranunculus.  They are so vibrant, with multi-faceted petals, and their stems go every which way.  They are somewhat like poppies, but not really.

321 C and B Revisited

I have missed painting these last several days.   It has become such a habit for me that when I don't paint, I get a little edgy.  It really felt good today, though I feel a little rusty.  Need to regroup and refocus after the completion of Art in Bloom Marketplace and sadly saying goodbye to guests.  The Garden Club banner was a big hit and we sold a fair amount of leaf vessels.  I'm tired!
